Virat Kohli is the name of the ultimate consistency and he has shown that in the World Cup so far. In the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia he scored another fifty-plus score becoming the highest run-getter of the World Cup.
He scored a vital knock of 54(63), which helped India to come out of a bothersome situation in the match. This was the fifth instance when Kohli scored a fifty-plus score consecutively and with these stats, he had matched the record of Steve Smith who had the same number of fifty-plus scores in the previous World Cup.
Interestingly, this feat has now been achieved by Virat Kohli two times. In 2019, Virat Kohli also scored five fifty-plus scores, and Steve Smith achieved this feat in 2015.
Virat has now become the only player to score fifty-plus scores more than five times in the World Cup history so far. This all has become possible due to the dream run of Virat Kohli in this World Cup so far. He had scored 765 runs at a staggering average of more than 100 in this World Cup.
